Cannabis is made from parts of the cannabis plant, and is classed as a sedative giving users relaxed feelings. The main active compound in cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). There are many street names for cannabis, such as dope, ganja, grass, hash, marijuana, pot, puff and weed.

The effects of cannabis can vary from person to person, however in most cases people feel relaxed and happy, and others get the giggles, or even feel sick. Studies have shown that people who use cannabis frequently are more at risk of developing psychosis and are more likely to experience mental health issues.
