Andy Lane, Consultant for Lancashire, has joined our Street Sex Worker (SSW) Outreach in Blackburn with Darwen to provide clinical support.

Andy teamed up with a Sexual Health Nurse and an Inspire Recovery Coordinator to enhance the outreach work that the Blackburn with Darwen Inspire Team complete, offering on-the-street interventions, such as medication reviews, prescription restarts, and vaccinations including Hepatitis B, flu and blood borne virus screening.

The first session was a huge success, with our Recovery Coordinator engaging 3 SSW’s back into prescribed treatment and offering opportunistic psycho-social support.  Engagement work was also completed with a pregnant service user who’s engagement had been sporadic previously, allowing meaningful and vital work to be completed to support this high risk and high need individual.

DORIS (Drug Outreach Recovery Intervention Service) is the Lancashire Inspire Van which supports with delivering interventions in the local community.
